"Driving to Feed Those in Need"

Reed-Lallier Chevrolet has embraced a project of great importance involving its entire team of employees to execute a month long food drive all to benefit SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK OF SOUTHEAST NC (SHFB).

The idea for the drive was developed by members of the dealership?s staff.  It was decided that they would organize a food drive spanning a month long period (Oct. 25 thru the Thanksgiving Holiday) with a goal to fill an entire Chevrolet Silverado with quality, nutritious food products by drive?s end.  All collected food and monetary donations will be presented to SHFB as part of the 24th Annual Heart of Carolina Food Drive (HOC) drive-thru event.  The dealership will be offering discounts for any donating customer who makes a purchase or has their vehicle serviced during the ?Driving to Feed Those in Need? Food Drive. Reed-Lallier will also be collecting food from its own team of employees.  Each employee on all levels will become an advocate to each other and to the customers with which they come in contact.  They will take the opportunity to share information about the desperate need within the local community and make an appeal for support with this project in the form of donations.

The final official weekend for the ?Driving to Feed Those in Need? Food Drive is Thanksgiving weekend.  However Reed-Lallier will continue to accept donations until the HOC drive-thru at Highland Shopping Center on December 8th. The dealership?s goal to fill the truck should be achievable with the assistance of multiple media outlets actively encouraging the public to bring final donations to the dealership during the Thanksgiving weekend.  The dealership is inviting all media?s participation and assistance in hope of reaching their goal.

Nationwide, more than 49 million Americans suffer from food insecurity.  But hunger?s impact is felt by many more than the millions living with food insecurity:  hunger impacts child development, health and wellness, education, workforce development ? our general welfare as a nation.  It is also an issue right here in our community ? and at the local level, SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK OF SOUTHEAST NC works to combat hunger and aid the hungry living right here in Cumberland County and Southeast NC.  The support of organizations like Reed-Lallier Chevrolet is imperative to SHFB and its non-profit member agencies in order to further the mission of fighting hunger and servicing those in desperate need within the local community.
